Equity-based Rewards for 2021 and ahead - what to do ? The Short-Term Tactics and the Long-Term view Dozens of opinions have been shared in business regarding Equity-based and Executive Remuneration topics, more so lately regarding what to do next in a Covid-19 world. Still, major and longer term questions regarding Remuneration are there - how to effectively build and deploy it, value creation, fitness for purpose. Beyond many "recipes" we see in the market, we suggest practical suggestions on what to do - technical and non-technical alike, both for consolidated companies and start-ups. We defend that Rewards, preferably run by certified professionals, should be really all about the Future of Work. Yes, we talk about instruments, vestings, peer groups and pay scales - which we excel at -, but at the end of the day, we need to remember that Rewards are a management tool - one of the most powerful ones -, and be handled as such to prepare for the Digital world that is already here. |
Helping SW and Tech-based Start-ups succeed: Profiles and Talent scaling-up with Industry-fit Competency Modelling (Part I of II) SW and tech startups. Often nimble, agile. Potentially capable of creating new, untapped businesses ✨. ➡️ Yet from the people perspective, and often with idiosyncratic personalities inside, high-tech startup CEOs often lead with "intuitive cleverness", even pop culture images - but that approach, sooner or later, is limited. ✅ We hereby share a paper we wrote on capability development in SW and tech-based startups via technical and behavioral competency modelling. 📲💻 This Part I is about how people and organizational capabilities are key to success, both technical and behavioral competencies mattering 👍🏼; where to start, and how well-built competency models can help us succeed. |
Helping SW and Tech-based Start-ups succeed: Profiles and Talent scaling-up with Industry-fit Competency Modelling (Part II of II) ✅ Sharing Part II (of II) of our mini-series. 👉🏼 In this Part II we suggest an operational, practical model that can be set up, and what competency profiles and levels could be chosen for talent management and, eventually, business scale-up. Together with implementation practices 🛫. |
AI in Big Pharma and Guidelines for Success - Add-on Analysis on a previous Study and its Commentary Sharing here a study we released to great praise of international companies and academia. Based on two premier previous studies by key global authors, we took the data, added statistical analysis and research of our own, and found out new relevant and powerful insights. Data seem to indicate that "external" AI initiatives (ie JVs, alliances with startups and tech companies, cooperation, M&A, etc.), seem to be a better predictor of AI success than purely internal efforts. Two cluster of global Pharma companies emerge, with different apparent degrees of success. |
The New Regulatory Environment for Remuneration Policies in EU Investment Firms: looking into 2021 and beyond Recent changes in Executive and Employee Remuneration regulations by the EU and the EBA, which actually also include disclosure, risk management, solvency and other requirements. In principle, this would affect all kinds of Banks and Financial Service businesses. We summarize prior regulation, present the new one, and discuss implications. Norms' scope has been clarified, proportionality has been reintroduced, requirements for Reward and "material risk takers" have been modified. Entities will need to assess applicability and possible changes to processes and policies. |
International Compensation & Benefits Strategy, Planning and Execution Extended version of the webinar we delivered with Generali and Worldwide Broker Network in June 2020. As opposed to a more vague or sales-pitch oriented documents, this one aims to discuss meaningful points to make organizational practitioners reflect, maybe get good ideas and be helped straight away. The idea is to help organize Reward systems, with a truly worldwide perspective (our expert advice and facilitation is obviously recommended, though). |
Improving Team Communications and Work with Keirsey-MBTI Personality Types' Analysis We do look after and serve clients regarding the not so "soft" part of People Management 👍🏼. Thus, we are happy to share a papers on how to improve teams with a Keirsey-MBTI approach, but with a definitively 2020s twist ✨⚡️📊. We believe this is powerful, specially for IT / project-based companies / startups in which teams and strong personalities have to blend together 😌👏. The methodology is venerable; however, we have tried to bring the ideas into modern times. The material can help get deep insights and change behaviors 🌈 for the company and people benefit. |
Distributed Ledger Technologies and Blockchain: a non-specialist, rigorous introduction Here is a paper, shared with Clients by us and widely praised, on what Distributed Ledgers Technologies and Blockchains really are. Nice both for the discerning business person and for general audiences. Most materials therein - but indeed not all of them - come from MIT-Emeritus and Professors John Williams and Abel Sanchez 👍🏼, and have been built by Zereon Associates with due recognition. It is intended to be comprehensible yet rigorous, well apart from sales pitches or too technical discussions. The document has been done in ‘open source’ spirit for non-specialists and comments are welcome. |
Digital Transformation: from AI and IoT to Cloud, Blockchain and Cybersecurity (summary) We are taking the liberty to share a quite good (we think) brief summary, made by us, of branded technologies shown in a top-notch MIT-Emeritus course 👍🏼-- excellent, we believe, for the non-specialized learner and useful for decision makers. This is taken from the online course “Digital Transformation: from AI and IoT to Cloud, Blockchain and Cybersecurity” (Q4 2019). All due merit goes to MIT-Emeritus and Professors John Williams and Abel Sanchez. Our role here has been of voluntary compilers and experts, done in an ‘open source’, contributing spirit. |
Rewarding Executives and Employees in sustainable Power Generation companies: Ideas and Trends from 2020 onwards We share a piece / reflection paper (8' read) on Rewards in Energy businesses and Power generation companies from 2020 onwards, co-authored by Zereon Associates with great industry expert and engineer Giovanna Chiara, EMBA. The industry is changing deeply and quickly, and its standard Employee and Executive Reward systems may no longer be able to contribute to adequate facing of digital transformations ✨✨, new markets, players and pricing mechanics, strong sustainability demands 🌊, eclosion of new ecosystems and asset usage modes, and a changing workforce overall. In the paper, we try to offer ideas and solutions 👍🏼. |
